Merge duplicate feedback posts

Keep one thread per idea by merging posts that ask for the same thing in different words.

When customers submit similar requests independently, votes and comments end up split across multiple posts. Merging brings them together into a single thread.

Why merging helps

Duplicate posts dilute the vote count for a popular idea and make it harder to see true demand. After a merge, all votes and comments live in one place, giving you a clearer signal.

How duplicate detection works

As a customer types a new submission, Featul shows similar existing posts so they can join an ongoing conversation instead of creating a new one. This reduces duplicates before they appear.

Merging posts as a team member

  1. Open the post you want to merge into another.

  2. Use the Merge option on the post.

  3. Select the target post that should become the single thread.

  4. Confirm the merge.

After merging, votes and comments from both posts are combined under the target post.

Things to keep in mind

  • Merging is a team action; customers cannot merge posts themselves.

  • Use internal comments to note why two posts were merged if the connection is not obvious to teammates reviewing the thread later.
